About Independence Media
Independence Media is a community-based, non-profit organization which operates independent TV channel WYBE 35/ DT34 in the Philadelphia area.
History
Independence Media started more than 16 years ago, as a small broadcast outlet for independent programming -- transmitting a few hours per day. The offices were above a paint store in Roxborough, Pennsylvania. Since then, Independence Media has grown into a 24/7 full-power television station, with an onsite studio. The station continues to serve viewers in the Philadelphia area with innovative, alternative programming.
Most commonly known as WYBE, the station showcases independent
film, international programs, documentaries, locally-produced
programming and much more. Through the years, popular original
series include, Philadelphia Stories, Culture Trek, Philly Live, and Through the Lens.
We strive to respond to community needs and interests, while also appealing to global audiences. With its newest TV and internet service, MiND: Media Independence, the station hopes to increase community participation and dialogue through member-submitted programming.
